Two Mahoning Valley baseball teams won Thursday and will play in regional finals Friday, but two local softball teams saw their seasons end in regional semifinals.
Poland beat Chardon Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin 8-2 in a Division II regional semifinal at The Ball Park at Hudson, while Western Reserve beat Sycamore Mohawk 6-0 in a Division IV regional semifinal at the Lorain Pipe Yard.
Poland will meet Chagrin Falls in a regional final at 5 p.m. today in Hudson. Western Reserve will meet Cuyahoga Heights in a regional final at 3 p.m. today.
Two area softball teams both saw their seasons end in 1-0 losses in regional semifinals Thursday. Akron Hoban edged Lakeview in a Division II game at Akron Firestone Stadium and Plymouth beat Lisbon in a Division IV game at Kent State University.
