YOUNGSTOWN — A South Heights man was arrested about 12:10 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of felonious assault after police said he hit his landlord in the face with an ax.

Jason Swegan, 41, is expected to be arraigned Friday in municipal court.

Reports said police were called to a home in the 1600 block of South Heights for a report of a fight and when they arrived they found Swegan's landlord lying in the driveway bleeding from the face. Reports said a witness told police they saw Swegan hit the man with an ax.

The landlord told police he came to the property and found Swegan putting up a fence. The two argued and Swegan hit the landlord, reports said.

Swegan told police the landlord grabbed his arm and he picked up the closest object available and hit him.

The landlord was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
