John K. Beason Jr., 39, of Navarre, started his one-week robbery spree in Warren May 10, 2015, and didn’t stop until he had committed three more crimes in Akron.

He got eight years in prison for the Akron robberies and is now likely to get another six for the one in Warren.

Beason was scheduled to go to trial Monday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court before Judge Peter Kontos, but he pleaded guilty instead to aggravated robbery with a firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

He will be sentenced later, after the county’s Adult Probation Department conducts a presentence investigation.

The robbery with a firearm requires that he serve a minimum of six years, said Chris Becker, assistant county prosecutor.

According to Warren police reports, Beason had gone into the North End Market, 1645 North Park Ave. in Warren, pulled out a black object that looked like a gun and demanded money. He got $300 and left.

The clerk said Beason had been in the store two times earlier that day and said, “I hate doing this to you, give me the ... money.”

Beason pleaded guilty in Summit County Common Pleas Court to robbing stores May 14, 15 and 17 in Akron.

The Cleveland.com website said Beason’s Akron robberies were at the Family Dollar on North Arlington Street on May 14 and again May 15 and the Far-Less Food Market on East Buchtel Avenue on May 17, 2015.

In the third robbery, he pulled out a gun and pointed it at the store’s owner, but the owner realized Beason’s gun had no ammunition and pulled out his own revolver.

Beason ran out of the store to a building on McNaughton Street, where he was arrested by Akron police.
