AUCTIONS

Salvation Army of Mahoning County Women’s Auxiliary will host its annual spring basket auction Saturday at Faith Community Covenant Church, 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd., Youngstown. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at 12:30. Basket drawings will begin at 1 p.m. The $20 nonrefundable donation includes entry, 25 tickets for regular prizes and lunch. Tickets are available for cash only from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Salvation Army building, 1501 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown.

CRAFT SHOWS

Covenant Life Fellowship, 5900 W. Liberty St., Hubbard, will sponsor its first arts, crafts and flea market extravaganza from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Vendors and crafters will be set-up inside the church and parking lot. Admittance is free and there will be free tickets for door prizes. There also will be a basket auction. Sandwiches, snacks, baked goods, soft drinks, kettle corn, homemade chocolates and specialty cupcakes will be available.

FUNDRAISERS

Never Muzzled and Youngstown Fire Department will sponsor a basket auction from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday at The Federal, 110 W. Federal St., to raise funds to buy pet oxygen masks for local fire departments in Trumbull and Mahoning counties. Youngstown Fire Department reached out to Never Muzzled to host the fundraiser together. The Federal is donating 15 percent of all meal purchases during the event. Legacy Dog Rescue will be there with some adoptable dogs. The Learning Dog will show training options.

Avalon Lakes Golf and Country Club, One American Way, Warren, will be the location of the annual Pink Ribbon Golf Classic on July 18. The cost is $110 per golfer. Registration and a continental breakfast begins at 8 a.m. with the shotgun start at 9. The 18-hole four-person scramble will be followed by lunch, a basket auction and raffle. Southside Fine Arts Academy will sponsor a “Paint and Sip” fundraiser from 6 to 9 p.m. May 27 at Christopher’s Downtown, 100 Federal St., Youngstown. All monies collected will support Southside Fine Arts Academy, which provides free fine-arts opportunities to children in kindergarten through 12th grades in the Mahoning Valley. Paint a picture with the help of a qualified art instructor while sipping on fine wine. This is for adults only. Tickets are $35 per person. All art supplies and first glass of wine are included in the ticket price. Tickets are limited to 50 people. RAFFLES

West Side Cats, 2217 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, will host a Father’s Day raffle and drawing June 18. It will feature a 48-inch Insignia LED TV. Proceeds will be used for its spay/neuter program. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5 and are available through any volunteer or at the shelter. For information call 330-792-4228.

SALES

Girard Junior Women will host its annual trunk and treasure sale, rain or shine, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Girard Municipal Courthouse, 100 N. Market St. To reserve a spot for $15 each, call Laura at 330-545-5962. All proceeds are donated to the Girard community.

Good Hope Lutheran Church, 12030 Market St., North Lima, will host a rummage sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Helping Hands Closet at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, has new and gently used clothes for the entire family. The May special is 50 percent off the entire inventory. Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The Cure Starts Now, Northeast Ohio Chapter, is hosting a garage sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at 5811 Ridgewood Drive, Boardman. Monies will fund research for pediatric brain cancer. May is Brain Tumor Awareness Month. Wear gray and get a free gray ribbon.

Poland Lions Club is sponsoring a Treasures of the Trunk Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 11 at Poland High School Stadium parking lot, 3199 Dobbins Road. Trinity Fellowship Church, 4749 South Ave., Youngstown, will host a rummage sale, food fair and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Trips Ahoy, a nonprofit organization that assists those who are developmentally disabled, will sponsor a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 28 and 29 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 30 at It’s All Fine consignment and gift shop, 3581 Youngstown-Warren Road, Warren. TRIPS

Jesus the Key Ministries and Men of Faith, the producers of Rally in the Valley, will host a bus trip to Lancaster, Pa, to see the show “Samson” at the Sight and Sound Theater and “Crooners” at the American Music Theatre on July 12 and 13. On Dec. 6 and 7 a trip will include “Samson,” a Christmas concert at American Music Theatre and a meal at the dinner theater, the Dutch Apple. Our Lady of Fatima, St. Ann Church, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, Pa., will offer bus trips as a fundraiser for repairs of its church organ. A trip to Seneca Allegany Casino in Salamanca, N.Y., is set for June 14 and 15. Lodging in the casino’s hotel is $155 per person for double occupancy with $70 in bonus rebates. A bus trip to Soaring Eagle Casino Resort in Mount Pleasant, Mich., will be Sept. 13 to 15. Hotel rooms will be $304 per person for double occupancy with a $100 bonus. Second Baptist Church, 820 E. Patterson St., Alliance, will host a bus trip from Aug. 2 to 4. Cost will be $330 per person and will include a motorcoach, lodging for two nights, four meals, “Samson” at the Sight & Sound Millennium Theatre, “Crooners” at the American Music Theatre, Kitchen Kettle Village, Rockvale Square Outlets and a guided tour of Lancaster.

Sutliff Museum’s one-day bus tours are open for registration. Underground Railroad sites will be visited. May 24 trip will be to Ashtabula County to see the Hubbard House Underground Railroad Museum, tour the Americana Collection which features Civil War artifacts and Ashtabula history and the Underground Railroad exhibit. Following lunch, travel to Jefferson, exploring sites visited by abolitionists Joshua Giddings and John Brown. Cost is $47. June 25 the trip will take part in the Spring Hill Underground Railroad Experience by playing the role of freedom seekers or runaway slaves (requires extensive walking on uneven ground). The house is open for tours following the reenactment. Lunch will be in downtown Massillon, then visit the Massillon Museum. Cost is $47. July 13 trip to Salem Historical Society. The docent, dressed as a Salem Quaker, will take passengers to the year 1856 to get a better understanding of the plight of slaves, the working of the Underground Railroad and the abolitionist movement. Lunch will be at the Spread Eagle Tavern in Hanoverton. Cost is $60.The cost for each trip includes transportation, admissions, snacks, guides and insurance. The bus will leave at 8:30 a.m. from the WalMart parking lot on Elm Road and will return by 6 p.m. Trips are limited to 42 people; early registration is encouraged.
