NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A former Ivy League professor convicted in the bludgeoning death of his wife at their suburban Philadelphia home has been denied early release.
Prosecutors announced the decision today, saying former University of Pennsylvania economics professor Rafael Robb is expected to serve his entire 10-year sentence in the 2006 death of Ellen Robb.
District Attorney Kevin Steele said the 65-year-old Robb is not expected to be released until 2017, and after that he will be on probation for a decade.
Robb, of Upper Merion, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to five to 10 years.
WCAU-TV reports that the victim’s brother, Gary Gregory, said his sister had been planning to leave Robb before she was killed. Since his sister’s death, Gregory has worked with survivors of domestic violence.
