Starting June 1, ADI will connect Valley travelers to the world

Tuesday, March 29, 2016

VIENNA — Come June 1 you will be able to fly to Tokyo and other international destinations from Youngstown.

Aerodynamics Inc. is connecting not just Youngstown, but the Mahoning Valley region to the rest of the world with its daily offering of flights to Chicago on a 50-passenger plane.

Today at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport, the Western Reserve Port Authority, representatives from ADI and local politicians spoke of the excitement for this service.

The airport hasn't had a daily service for 14 years and this will be the first commercial service for ADI, which has offered charter services for more than 50 years.

"This is all about new beginnings," said Mickey Bowman,VP of airline services for ADI. "It's a new beginning for ADI. It's a rebirth for us on the scheduled commercial side of the house."

Bowman believes the service will be well received in the community because research shows it needs it.

Many spoke about the need for community members to support this service, so it can grow and possibly lead to more daily destinations.

Ticket sales for the Youngstown to Chicago O'Hare flights will start at $99 one way to $250 one way and should open between April 15 and April 19.
