CITY OF ROCK | 'The Covelli Centre makes the heart beat down here'

Tuesday, March 22, 2016

The Vindicator has a team of reporters and photographers covering the excitement of both the Elton John and ZZ Top concerts tonight.

They report right now downtown streets are bustling with concert-goers.

People from out of the state came to Youngstown for the events. Some are wearing their Elton John shirts while others are dressed up in bedazzled rock concert gear.

"The V2 is packed with a mix of both Elton John and ZZ Top fans. They are blasting Elton John music," social media reporter Sean Ferguson said.

"The Covelli Centre makes the heart beat down here," said Ed Moses, co-owner of V2.

By 6:30 p.m., lines of Elton John fans had formed outside the Covelli, though no one was being let in until 7 p.m. Parking by the Covelli Centre is starting to fill up. Traffic is still moving smoothly with no backups coming from either bridge into downtown, though that is expect to change the closer it gets to show times.

The Elton John concert at the Covelli Centre will start right at 8 p.m. The opening acts prior to the ZZ Top concert will take the Stambaugh stage at 8 p.m. with the headliners expected on stage between 9 and 9:30 p.m.
