COLUMBUS (AP) — A coroner has identified skeletal remains of a fatally stabbed man found near a teenage boy’s body in a Columbus park three months ago.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that Franklin County Coroner Dr. Anahi Ortiz says DNA from the man’s remains found a few feet from the teenager’s body matches that of 39-year-old Alexander Serrano. Ortiz says Serrano died from multiple stab wounds to the torso. She ruled the death a homicide. Serrano’s hometown wasn’t available.
The teenager was previously identified as 17-year-old Wilson Omar Villeda. Police have said Villeda’s death is considered a homicide. But authorities haven’t said how Villeda died.
Ortiz says Serrano’s body likely had been in the park at least six months.
Columbus police haven’t said whether the two deaths are connected.
