With Fourth of July weekend approaching, the personal-finance website WalletHub released some facts about the dollars and cents of Independence Day in the United States. Here are some highlights:

v 150 million: Number of hot dogs consumed each Fourth of July holiday

v 700 million: Number of pounds of chicken purchased in the week prior to the Fourth of July

v $4.4 million: Annual value of imported American flags, most of which are made in China

v $324 million: Value of annual fireworks imports to the U.S. (most from China)

v 67: Percentage of all annual fireworks injuries that take place within a month of the Fourth of July

“The Bachelorette” (8 p.m., ABC): The tear-stained drama on “The Bachelorette” continues in Buenos Aires, where another awkward two-on-one date goes down. Then, at the rose ceremony, JoJo stuns the guys when she runs out.

Annual Ox Roast is next weekend

MESOPOTAMIA

The Mesopotamia Volunteer Firemen Association’s 43rd annual Ox Roast and antiques and flea market will be Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and July 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the intersection of state Routes 534 and 87. Admission and parking are free. The event includes roast-beef sandwiches, fries and beverages, and 160 vendors. Special events will include a pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. each day.

Entertainment on Friday will include the Chardon Polka Band at 10 a.m., Jungle Terry at 1 p.m. and Woodpeckers at 5:30 p.m.; on Saturday, Mosquito Creek Band at 9:30 a.m., Jungle Terry at 1 p.m., 2 Men and a Campfire at 2 p.m., and the Fort Hunstburg Band at 5:30 p.m.; and July 3, Rock’n’Country Cloggers at 10 a.m. and Take II at 1 p.m. Go to mespofire.com.

Twins Days Festival returns in August

TWINSBURG

The 2016 Twins Days Festival will be Aug. 6-7, starting at 9 a.m. both days, at Glen Chamberlain Park, 10270 Ravenna Road.

This annual international event is recorded as the “Largest Annual Gathering of Twins in the World” by the Guinness Book of Records. Now in its 41st year, the festival will welcome thousands of twins from all over the world. Non-twins are also welcome.

The festival will include a twins parade, contests, talent show, research area, group photo, entertainment, fireworks, a 5K run/walk and more.

Registration forms can be downloaded at twinsdays.org. Twins can also register at the festival. Admission is $4 per person, per day.
