The Poland Women’s Club recently went to its end-of-year social at the Lake Club to celebrate a job well done for another year of fundraising, donations and selecting club officers.

The club decided on keeping its officers as Donna Wolfe, president; Meg Gabriel, vice president; Lue Bukovinsky, treasurer; and Beth Alexoff, secretary.

Through its 2015 quarter auction, the club raised more than $7,000 to donate to several organizations and community events.

The club is, according to its mission statement,“an organization that celebrates women, volunteerism, leadership, and giving back to the Poland community since 1953.”

Over the past year, Wolfe said the club has started to take more giving opportunities, such as at the pancake breakfast fundraiser event Jan. 23 at Poland High School for Celebrate Poland. The members volunteered making pancakes, operated the ticket table and gave a donations.

The club donated to more than 10 community organizations this year such as Silver Lining Hope Center, Making Kids Count, Purple Cat and a $1,000 annual scholarship awarded to a student at the high school.

“We set goals together, we work together, we learn together and we have fun together,” Wolfe said. “That’s how I feel about these girls, they’re really special.”

The club has recessed for the summer, until its next meeting Sept. 26. But it already has set its next fund-raiser Oct. 17 at Holy Family Parish Center located on Center Road in Poland.
