Canfield Fourth of July Committee announces 2016 festivities schedule

Catch all the patriotic pets from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. with judging at 12:30 p.m. Pictured are Tucker and Charlie Mozzy.

The Canfield Fourth of July Committee is excited to announce the schedule for this year’s festivities to take place on July 4 in the Center of Canfield.

The Independence Day celebration begins early – registration for both the Half Mile Kids’ Race and the Firecracker 4 Miler kicks off at 7:30 a.m. in the Township Hall on the Green. The Kids’ Race around the Green takes off at 8:15 a.m. in front of Farmers National Bank. At 8:30 a.m. in front of the Dairy Queen, is the start of the Firecracker 4 Miler.

As families gather on the Green to view the parade, they can visit the booths and catch JD Eicher performing on the Gazebo from 9-10 a.m.

Parade participants begin assembling at the Fairgrounds, at 9:30 a.m. the Kids Bicycle Parade Judging begins, the floats are judged and at 10:10 a.m., Jim Queen and Mark Sabol officially launch the parade leaders. Show your support for all of our parade participants including our local veterans, elected officials, a contingent of antique automobiles and the Canfield Pride Marching Band.

Following the parade, join us at the Gazebo as we honor our Grand Marshal before JD Eicher returns for a post parade performance. Then head to the North Green for an array of free kids games, bounce-arounds and a petting zoo.

There is also a food court open in the Farmers National Bank parking lot offering an array of goodies, all supporting local non-profit causes.
