YOUNGSTOWN — The Sharonline Weekend Celebration is set for Friday through Sunday, Aug. 5-7.
The event is hosted every three years and celebrates the Sharonline, a community on the city’s East Side that is now known as McGuffey Heights.
Events on Friday and Saturday take place primarily at McGuffey Centre, 1649 Jacobs Road.
They include a Sharonline 4 Life dinner and dance at 6 p.m. Friday. Cost is $40 and there is a cash bar. For tickets or information, call 330-744-4151 or 330-718-3119.
Events on Saturday include a “raise the roof” yard sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost for private vendors will be $10 per table. For information, call 330-565-4845 or 330-720-3456.
A parade will begin at noon at the center and travel to Bailey Park, where a picnic will follow.
Finally, there will be an old-school cabaret at the center from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Cost is $10 at the door, and guests are asked to bring their own beverages. Musical guest will be the Matrix Band.
The weekend will close next Sunday with a morning worship at Reeds Chapel AME Church, 1939 Jacobs Road.
