The Commons at Greenbrier hosted the third annual car cruise on June 22 for residents and community members.

The car cruise brings in 250-350 people each year to look at cars, enjoy music and spend an evening outside. There was a 50/50 raffle for guests to participate in to win several sets of prizes. Hot dogs, water and root beer floats were available for free thanks to donations and sponsorships from various companies. Fred Martin Ford in Austintown donated all the hot dogs and hot dog buns.

Having the car cruise at the Commons at Greenbrier gives the residents an opportunity to have an interactive event outside, rather than watching an outdoor concert or movie. The car cruise allows community members to support other community members. Many of those who bring in cars are members of the community who enjoy restoring cars to show off and help others restore cars.

The car cruise brings the community to the residents. The event provides the residents with a different experience that they might not normally attend.

“It’s really important because we love our residents so much. They’re our entire world. Because this is their world, we become their world,” said Janette Neal, the Director of Public Relations at Greenbriar.

Members in the Mahoning Valley Car Cruises and the Mahoning Valley Olde Car Club brought in their cars for guests to admire. The members were available for any questions that the guests may have had about the cars or anything else pertaining to the clubs.

“We are proud to be part of the Boardman and greater Youngstown community,” said Neal.

The Commons at Greenbrier provides a place for their residents to make them feel at home. The staff members quickly fall in love with the residents and make them part of their family. The staff tries to create programs to help the residents feel comfortable while having fun.
