Two people were injured in separate shootings Monday evening on the East Side.

About 10:30 p.m., police were called to the 600 block of Magnolia Avenue for a report of a shooting. Witnesses told police three men were shooting at another man.

As police were at Magnolia, reports said a 24-year-old man arrived at Valley Care Northside Medical Center in critical condition with a gunshot wound. Several shell casings also were found on the street, reports said. Police do not know if the man at the hospital was involved in the Magnolia shooting.

A person also was wounded later at a home in the 300 block of Ayers Street. No one was available to give information to the press, however, and a report was not made available because it had not yet been approved by a supervisor.

About 11:20 p.m., officers were called to a home in the 300 block of Byron Street, where they found a 27-year-old man bleeding from a gunshot wound to the leg.

After he was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, reports said the victim told police he was at a home in the 300 block of Ayers Street when a man with a gun came up to him and shot him in the leg as he ran away toward Byron Street.

As the man was lying on the ground, the suspect reach into his pocket, took some money and ran away, reports said.
