Calif. man faces drunken-driving charge in I-80 crash

LIBERTY — Dall E. Hodges, 58, of Coalinga, Calif., was charged with drunken driving after his tractor-trailer crashed on Interstate 80 near state Route 11 at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday.

Hodges was eastbound on I-80 in the construction zone when his tractor-trailer drifted off the right side of the road, striking a guardrail and a bridge before overturning, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported. Hodges was not injured.

He tested for a blood-alcohol level of 0.177, which is more than twice the legal intoxicatin limit of .08 for individuals driving noncommercial vehicles and more than four times the legal limit for driving a commercial vehicle, which is .04, the patrol said.

He was taken to the Trumbull County Jail and will be arraigned today in Girard Municipal Court.

The crash closed the right lane of traffic for about 90 minutes. The tractor-trailer was hauling produce and had disabling damage.
