“The Addams Family,SDRq directed by Brent Rodgers, New Castle Playhouse, 202 E. Long Ave., auditions from 7 to 9 p.m. July 31 and Aug. 1. Those auditioning should prepare a vocal selection, no more than two minutes in length, that shows your vocal range. Bring sheet music – an accompanist will be provided – or bring a CD with only instrumentals. No a cappella. Actors may be asked to read from the script. Roles of Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Grandma, Wednesday, Pugsley, Lurch, Mal, Alice and Lucas Beineke and the Addams ancestors are available. Boys auditioning for Pugsley must be at least 10 years old. Auditions for all other roles (men and women) are open to anyone age 13 and older. Performances will take place Oct. 21-23 and 27-30. “Extremities,SDRq directed by Timothy R. Thomas, at Youngstown Playhouse, auditions Tuesday and Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Those auditioning are asked to prepare a one- to two-minute contemporary dramatic monologue, and will read scenes from the script, which will be provided in advance. Cast requirements include three women and one man, age 21 and older. “Extremities” tells the story of a young woman, Marjorie, who is attacked in her home by a would-be rapist named Raul. Marjorie’s roommates, Terry and Patricia, come home to discover that Marjorie has been assaulted and has subdued her attacker. As the group determines the fate of Raul, each expresses an extremely different point of view about rape in society based on their individual life experiences. What follows is a dynamic look at how society defines sexuality, equality, humanity, savagery, vengeance and justice. Performance dates are Oct. 7, 8, 13, 14 and 15.
