Shooting in Warren

WARREN

City police continue to question people of interest in connection with the shooting of a Warren man Saturday in the 400 block of Arnold Drive SW at the intersection of Lane Drive Southwest.

The Trumbull County 911 Center received its first calls about the shooting at 1:30 p.m. with various callers saying at first that a man was shot in the chest or back. One caller said the man had been “shot in the spine but was still breathing.”

The victim, believed to be 21, was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Man, woman shot

SALEM

An unidentified man and woman were shot, the woman fatally, just after midnight Saturday at a residence in the 600 block of E. Second St.

On its Facebook page, the Salem Police Department said it responded to a report of shots fired at the rear of the residence where they found the female, who was pronounced dead at the scene by the Columbiana County Coroner’s Office. The male was transported to a local trauma center.

Salem police, assisted by the Columbiana County Coroner and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation in the investigation of the shootings, believe the shooter to be one of the individuals at the scene.

Soybean Field Day

NEW SPRINGFIELD

Ohio State University Extension Mahoning County will host a Soybean Field Day from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Molnar Farms, 3744 Columbiana Road.

The event will focus on soybean production and explore topics regarding disease management, 2016 scouting reports, cover weed management, palmer amaranth and more. Jacqueline Huzar Novakowiski is the featured speaker.

Career Day planned

YOUNGSTOWN

A Time for Recovery Outreach will host a Career Day from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 6 in the meeting room at Youngstown branch library, 305 Wick Ave.

Annual car show

BOARDMAN

The Mahoning Valley Olde Car Club is hosting its annual car show from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Aug. 7 in Boardman Park, 375 Boardman-Poland Road.

The event will offer food, music, flea markets, a 50-50 raffle, basket auction, bake sale and more.

Most of the proceeds will be given to a local child to help with medical expenses. This year’s recipient is Abby Lipinski, a 14 year-old with cancer.
