GOP CONVENTION | Kosar addresses Ohio delegation

Monday, July 18, 2016

CLEVELAND — Former Cleveland Browns great Bernie Kosar called for tolerance and not violence when two sides disagree during a speech today to the Ohio delegation to the Republican National Convention.

Kosar was among a number of speakers addressing the delegation during the opening of the convention.

Before speaking, Kosar told reporters he was not at the convention to endorse any particular candidate, but to represent Cleveland.

He was asked to speak by Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel, a likely 2018 U.S. Senate candidate, who hosted the breakfast.

Kosar said he it was a "humbling experience" for "a kid from Mahoning County" to speak to the delegation.

Kosar said he recently moved back to the area, living on a farm in Portage County, and said it was like "Green Acres," the classic TV show about a Park Avenue couple moving to a rural farm.
