The Snow Moon
When: Friday, 7–8:30 p.m.
What: We can’t promise the cold, crunchy stuff, but discover why some native American tribes referred to this month’s moon as the “Snow Moon.”

Birds of Winter: Bird Watching 101
When: Monday
What: Join Jeff Harvey from Birds Unlimited to learn to identify birds in your backyard this winter and what to feed them. Will include segment on planting to attract birds and tips to deter squirrels by Marilyn McKinley, Ohio certified volunteer naturalist.

PHILLY Flower Show GARDEN TRAVEL TOUR
When: March 4-6
What: Join Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens for three-day garden tour to explore world’s oldest and largest indoor flower show. Theme this year is “Explore America – 100 Years of the National Park Service.” With stops at Winterthur Museum Garden & Library to see famous March Bank in bloom and Longwood Gardens to experience Orchid Extravaganza. Time allotted Saturday to explore Philadelphia on your own.
Cost: $575; FFRG, $525; includes transportation, admissions, lodging, most meals.

Jewels of Winter Orchid Exhibit
When: Feb. 2–March 13, Tuesdays–Sundays, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
What: Let these jewels of the plant world dazzle you. During the heart of winter, find the spirit of the tropics at the Davis Center as you observe these exotic beauties on display. Bring your camera, as there will be plenty of amazing flowers to photograph.

Orchid Walk-Up Clinic
When: Feb. 2, 6–8 p.m.
What: Bring your orchids and have an expert look at your plant, talk about its culture, help you repot it if necessary. Pots and orchid bark mix are available to purchase through the gift shop during regular business hours, or you may bring your own bark mix and clean pots.
Where: Fellows Riverside Gardens, McKinley Avenue, Youngstown.

11th Annual Winter Seminar
When: Feb. 20, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
What: Men’s Garden Club of Youngstown hosts speakers to help you explore ways to make your garden attractive, appealing, alluring and fascinating. Speakers’ books will be available for purchase.
