Radio auction details to be discussed Friday

YOUNGSTOWN

The Kiwanis Club of Youngstown will meet for its 62nd annual Radio Auction kickoff meeting at 11:45 a.m. Friday at the YMCA of Youngstown, 17 N. Champion St.

The public is welcome at the meeting. Anthony D’Apolito will preside, and Gary Winslow will speak.

Donations of new items, gift cards, memberships and other gifts are being accepted for the auction; call Jerry Osborne at 330-770-0003 for information. The auction event is set for April 7. A list of auction items will appear in the Vindicator prior to the event.

The club also will discuss plans for its 100th anniversary on July 29 at the meeting.

Chili cook-off will benefit preschool

BROOKFIELD

Brookfield Methodist Church, 6951 Grove St., will host a community chili cook-off event from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Jan. 31. Proceeds from the event will benefit Brookfield Preschool.

Guests will sample a variety of chili from individuals and local businesses and vote for a favorite. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 3 and older.

YSU Women Retirees to offer scholarships

The scholarship committee of the Women Retirees of Youngstown State University is accepting applications through March 1.

The scholarship is awarded to a full-time junior female student who maintains a minimum 3.0 grade point average. The recipient must be a U.S. citizen and be enrolled in a degree-seeking program.

Information about the scholarship is available at ysu.edu/finaid/scholarships. Application forms are available on the website or at the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, on second floor of Meshel Hall at YSU.
