YOUNGSTOWN

City schools students’ works line the second-floor walls of the district’s West Wood Street administration building.

Emily Enamorado, a Martin Luther King Elementary School sixth-grader; Jamarion Gilbert, a Williamson Elementary first-grader; and Laylon Bridges, an East High School sophomore, are among best-in-show winners in the 2016 Mid-Year Art Show.

Emily sculpted a meal on a paper plate for her entry. Steak, macaroni and broccoli are on the menu.

Jamarian used bright colors to paint his masterpiece, and Laylon sculpted a mask.

Other best-in-show winners are: Alecia King, Paul C. Bunn Elementary sixth-grader; Faith Gambill, Harding Elementary kindergartner; Daniel Floyd, William Holmes McGuffey Elementary sixth-grader; Jadrian Nazario, Martin Luther King Elementary second-grader; Vicyael Valazquez, Taft Elementary fifth-grader; Natalie Mathews, Discovery at Kirkmere seventh-grader; Alberto Peterson, Discovery Transitions to Careers at Volney seventh-grader; Milasia Lewis, junior, and Lanaya Jones, sixth-graders, both of Chaney; Meredith Bush, Rayen Early College Middle School seventh-grader; Kenya Johnson, East High senior; and Brian Finley, Youngstown Early College sophomore.

The students’ works will remain on exhibit until Jan. 4.

YCSD’s Juried Spring Art Show will take place April 24 through May 12 at the main branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County at Wick and Rayen avenues.
