The mother of an 8-year-old student in the Programs of Promise at Wilson School wants the protocol for handling an acting-out child reviewed after she said her son was picked up by his ankle and dragged across the floor of a classroom.

According to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, the mother, Heather Schultz, said her son had bruises and blood on his face when she picked him up at school Monday afternoon.

The second-grader’s mother said her son had been restrained in the past, but believes what happened at the school Monday is unacceptable.

A school district spokeswoman said the incident is under investigation, but declined further comment.

The mother said she doesn’t want to file criminal charges, but does want the district to review its protocol on how to handle students when they are restrained or disciplined, according to 21 WFMJ-TV.
