YOUNGSTOWN

Three people were arraigned in municipal court Monday on felony drug charges.

Katherine Sakalosh, 32, of Youngstown, was given a bond of 10 percent of $3,000 by Magistrate Anthony Sertick on charges of possession of cocaine and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia after a car she was in was pulled over about 10:30 p.m. Friday at Overland and West Delason avenues for an improper turn.

Reports said the driver gave police permission to search, and there was a purse in the seat where Sakalosh was sitting. She told police there was a crack pipe and some loose crack cocaine in the purse, reports said. Police found three crack pipes and loose cocaine inside, and Sakalosh was taken into custody. The driver was given a citation, and the passengers had nothing illegal, reports said.

Walter Graham, 66, of Elm Street, was given a bond of $12,500 after he was arraigned on charges of possession of cocaine and tampering with evidence. Reports said Graham was driving a car about 11:35 p.m. Friday that was pulled over at Hillman and Kenmore avenues for an improper turn, and officers could see Graham reaching under his seat and clenching his fist.

When Graham spoke he mumbled as if he had something in his mouth, and when police asked him what he had in his mouth, Graham began to chew. Graham turned away from police who were trying to open his mouth when he spit a plastic bag of suspected crack cocaine out of his mouth, reports said.

Arraigned on charges of possession of heroin, possession of marijuana and driving under suspension was Kewann Skinner, 22, of Youngstown. Skinner originally was issued citations Aug. 19 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol for driving under suspension and possession of marijuana after he was pulled over for speeding on Interstate 680. Because he is not a licensed driver, another driver came and drove his car home. Because Skinner was issued citations, he also was allowed to leave.

When the trooper got back to his cruiser where Skinner was sitting while the trooper checked Skinner’s car, he found a plastic bag on the floor. Reports said the trooper watched the video camera that is inside the cruiser, and Skinner could be seen taking a plastic bag out of his pants and throwing it on the floor. The contents of the bag were tested and came back positive for heroin, reports said. Skinner was taken into custody Friday, jail records showed.

Magistrate Sertick set his bond at $5,000.
