Man in custody
YOUNGSTOWN
Reports said a man who was pulled over about 12:40 a.m. Wednesday at Midlothian Boulevard and South Avenue on the South Side for only having one headlight was taken into custody on a 15-year-old warrant.
Records showed that Lakeithius Robinson, 39, of West Ravenwood Avenue, had a warrant from municipal court from 2001 for an open-container charge. He was taken to the jail on the warrant.
Officers also found a bag of suspected marijuana in the car under the driver’s seat after Robinson gave them permission to search. Police also issued him a citation for possession of marijuana.
Death ruled suicide
WARREN
The Trumbull County Coroner’s office has ruled the death of a man believed to have fallen from a Warren apartment building Saturday morning a suicide.
The man, Larry H. Jenkins, 53, was found dead in the courtyard at 11:30 a.m. next to the Buckeye apartment building on Buckeye Street Northwest.
Police discovered there were few items in Jenkins’ sixth-floor apartment, and his car likewise looked as if it had been cleaned out.
A woman, 51, fell to her death from the sixth floor of the Buckeye building in March. Her death also was ruled suicide. The building is operated by the Trumbull Metropolitan Housing Authority.
Delegation seeks training center
RAVENNA
The entire Ohio congressional delegation is urging the federal Missile Defense Agency director to select Camp Ravenna Joint Military Training Center as the preferred site for the East Coast Missile Defense System.
The systems are designed to intercept ballistic missiles headed for American soil. Fort Drum in New York and the Fort Custer Training Center in Michigan are being considered in the East.
It is estimated that the $3.6 billion project could help support 2,300 jobs in the region during construction and directly employ up to 850 people full-time once the system is operational.
Awareness day

To mark International Overdose Awareness Day, a local organization will host a Light Up the Night event from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Youngstown, 1105 Elm St.
OhioCAN Mahoning County, the local branch of a state organization that aims to remove the stigma associated with substance abuse, is hosting the event in conjunction with FedUp!, an anti-drug group that hosts rallies across the country.
Those who attend are encouraged to bring photos and/or shoes belonging to someone who died due to drugs. The event will feature a luminaria display and candelight vigil.
