WARREN

Authorities have not identified a woman who asked to stay overnight at an apartment on Porter Street Northeast last week and was found dead there the next day. She is believed to have died of a drug overdose.

The woman is described as white, 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 2 to 5 feet 4 inches tall, 140 to 160 pounds with long, blonde hair wearing blue jeans and a T-shirt.

A resident of the 200 block of Porter said she went to her porch at 11 p.m. Wednesday and found the woman on the porch shaking and crying. She asked to stay there that night because she had “nowhere to go,” the resident said.

The resident, 19, allowed the woman to sleep on her couch while the resident and her infant son slept in the bedroom with the door locked.

At 10:30 a.m. Thursday, the resident tried to wake the woman, but she could not, so she called 911.

Police found the victim deceased, face-down on the couch. Beside the couch was a cellphone, rolled up dollar bill and red duffel bag containing a spoon, folded piece of paper containing a pink powder and another piece of paper apparently containing Suboxone strips. Suboxone is used by opiate addicts to relieve cravings.

The Trumbull County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy, but the cause and manner of the woman’s death is pending toxicology results. The woman appears to have died from a drug overdose, but it will take about two months to know for sure, the coroner’s office said.
