Amusement parks announce new plans

Ohio’s two big amusement parks are mixing a little surf and snow into their new plans for the coming year.

Cedar Point in Sandusky announced that its Soak City water park is getting a makeover complete with new slides and a new name. The renovated water park will open next year as Cedar Point Shores with a new six-slide tower.

Cedar Point’s hotels are adding new rooms, too.

Kings Island near Cincinnati is bringing back its holiday-themed WinterFest celebration this year. The event will feature ice skating, shows and a few rides. The park’s Eiffel Tower will be turned into a giant Christmas tree.

The park previously announced it is building a new wooden roller coaster for 2017.

Both parks are owned by Ohio-based Cedar Fair.
