Corrine Sanderson, Community Organizer, partnered with the Austintown and Struthers Police Department to plan a stuffed animal and baseball card drive to help the families in the community.

The community was asked to bring in new or gently used stuffed animals and baseball cards. The donated items will be given to families in the community by the police officers in their own neighborhood. Donations were accepted by the Austintown and Struthers Police Department Aug. 1-5. The Shrine of Our Lady also accepted donations on Aug. 5. All donations were greatly appreciated by the police departments and communities.

The idea of this event is to help show people how dedicated the Police Departments are to their communities. With the recent loss of lives of civilians and police officers across the country, the police departments in Mahoning County want to education the people in the community that the police have a mission to help protect and serve.
