Former Traficant aide indicted on theft, forgery charges

YOUNGSTOWN — A Mahoning County grand jury has indicted a former aide to the late U.S. Rep. James A. Traficant Jr.

Linda Kovachik, 69, of Flager Street, was indicted on a charge of theft and four counts of forgery.

The grand jury issued the indictment Thursday but it was not released until today.

Kovachik is accused of depriving an elderly woman of more than $150,000 of property, cash and services between October 2013 and December 2015 and also cashing four forged checks between September of 2013 and June of 2014.

Kovachik did serve some time in the county jail but has since been released.
