Mahoning County ESC chooses Franklin B. Walter Scholarship winner

Julian Vitto, a senior at Canfield High School, was awarded the Franklin B. Walter Scholarship for Mahoning County. He was among 88 seniors recognized at the 27th Annual Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Awards Program in Columbus, Ohio on April 13.
The $500 scholarship is awarded to one high school senior from each county in Ohio that has shown outstanding academic achievement through grades, test scores, involvement in activities and awards. Out of a dozen Mahoning County applicants, Vitto was selected as the winner by the Mahoning County Educational Service Center.
Vitto currently attends Canfield High School, where he is involved in the marching band, jazz band and symphonic band, as well as a member of the basketball and track teams. He is also President of National Honors Society, and has volunteered his time with the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley, American Diabetes Annual Walkathon, American Cancer Society Relay for Life and served as a Youth Basketball Camp Counselor.
He has won several academic awards and took part in a Bio-medical Engineering Job Shadow experience with the Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University.
Vitto plans to attend Georgia Tech University in the Fall and major in Bio-medical Engineering.
