City’s Finance Director receives certificate

The City of Canfield presented a certificate of appreciation to the City’s Finance Director, Christine Stack Clayton, during the regular meeting of Council on March 16.

In each of the last five years, the State of Ohio Auditors Office has found Canfield City Finance practices to be in accordance with General Accepted Accounting Principles and the city has met stringent state criteria. State appointed auditors look at invoices, deposits, income tax returns and water bills to test for accuracy.

In 1998, Clayton was hired by the City of Canfield as the Deputy Finance Director and she served in that capacity for 14 years. In January 2013, Clayton was appointed to the position of Canfield Finance Director. Clayton received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Youngstown State University with her Major field of Study in Accounting and Minors in Management and Finance.

Under Clayton’s watch as the Finance Director, the City of Canfield has been awarded the State Auditors Award for a clean Audit in 2013 and 2014.

Clayton’s responsibilities also include the overseeing of the daily operations of the Income tax Office and the Water Department Billing Office.

This award from the State Auditors office was first received by the City of Canfield in 2009 by then City Finance Director Sandy Mayberry.
