Ramp to close

LORDSTOWN

The eastbound entrance ramp to the Ohio Turnpike at Interchange 216 at Lords-town will close this evening and remain closed until November.

East and westbound turnpike motorists will encounter a traffic pattern with an eastbound contraflow lane reversal and reduced speed limits during this period.

Crews will remove and replace the original pavement in the eastbound right and center lanes between mileposts 216.9 and 221.2 in Mahoning County.

Eastbound drivers intending to remain on the Ohio Turnpike must use the left lane only. Eastbound drivers wishing to exit to I-80 Niles and Youngstown (Exit 218) in North Jackson must use the right lane. Eastbound traffic in the right lane will be required to exit.

Tree dedication

AUSTINTOWN

Austintown School District administration will have a special tree-dedication ceremony Friday for Chloe Cox, a former student.

Chloe was a lifelong resident of Austintown. She attended Lloyd Elementary School, Frank Ohl Intermediate School and Austintown Middle School before she died in October 2014. The ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Austintown Elementary School, Burkey Road.

Armed robbery

LIBERTY

Police are investigating an armed robbery reported shortly after 6 p.m. Monday from a Dollar General on Logan Way.

An employee reported hearing a scream from a customer before turning around to see a man holding what appeared to be a sawed-off shotgun. The employee said the man demanded money and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register before fleeing, according to a police report.

Witnesses described the suspect as a white male wearing a ski mask. One witness said he appeared to have light-colored or gray hair. After initially running away, the man fled along Logan Way in a black SUV.

Family game night

CAMPBELL

On Thursday, Campbellā€™s K-7 Building, 2002 Community Circle, will host a family game night for students in grades four through seven and their families from 6 to 8 p.m. Throughout the evening, attendees can play a variety of board games. At the end of the night, the board games played will be raffled off as prizes. Refreshments will be provided.
