Chicken wings dispute leads to stabbing

YOUNGSTOWN — A man told police he was stabbed late Tuesday evening by his girlfriend after he tried to get back inside her home to get some food he left behind.

Police were called to a home in the 500 block of Miller Street about 10:30 p.m., where the man told them he was with his girlfriend, Cynthia Bland, 60 , at her home in the 900 block of Campbell Avenue. Reports said the pair were drinking when Bland told the victim she wanted him to drive her to the store to get more alcohol and the man refused, saying she had plenty to drink already.

The victim told police he called his niece to drive him home and when Bland heard her voice, she thought it was another woman and he was cheating on her. She became enraged and shoved him through a door, reports said.

Reports said the victim told police he tried to get back inside because he wanted the chicken wings he was eating and when he went back in, Bland stabbed him.

The victim walked back to his home to call police and was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Bland was arrested on a charge of felonious assault and a warrant. Reports said officers found a knife with blood on it in her home.
