Veteran Salute Day is Thursday at Oakhill Renaissance Place

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Department of Job and Family Services, in coordination with the county commissioners, will host the “Veterans: We Salute You” day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at JFS offices, Oakhill Renaissance Place, 345 Oak Hill Ave., B lobby.

Veterans will be able to receive immediate service and determination of eligibility for benefits administered by the agency such as health care, food and child-care assistance or medical transportation.

Other agencies participating will be the Veterans Services Commission, Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority, Ohio Means Jobs, Social Security Administration, VA Outpatient Clinic, Youngstown State University’s Veteran’s Services, ITT Technical Institute and Family Community Services.

To receive immediate determination, the veteran will need to provide proof of income, photo ID, proof of veteran status and proof of residence and assets. All participating agencies will be available to discuss individual circumstances with the veteran.

Two future dates, May 26 and June 23, will follow the same procedure and take place in the same location.
