Drug Take Back event scheduled

AUSTINTOWN

Several agencies in Mahoning County are drop-off sites for unused prescription drugs during a National Drug Take Back event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration and community partners. Unused medicines are highly susceptible to misuse and abuse, and need to be disposed of properly to avoid harm to the environment, officials said.

Expired, unused, and unwanted prescription medication and/or patches, but not sharps/needles, liquids, or medical waste, can be dropped off. The service is free and anonymous.

Drop-off sites are: Austintown Police Department, 92 Ohltown Road, Austintown; Beaver Police Department, 601 West South Range Road, North Lima; Canfield Police Department, 104 Lisbon St., Canfield; and the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office, 110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown.
