Boardman police arrest two on prostitution-related charges

BOARDMAN — Two people face drug- and prostitution-related charges after they were picked up by township police Monday.

The charges stem from police being called out to Walmart, 1300 Doral Dr., in reference to a woman — later identified as Amy Altman, 35, of Youngstown — outside the business who reportedly kept passing out on a bench.

Police then spoke to Pasha Alamin, 59, of Youngstown, at an area hotel after Altman claimed she had been held against her will and sexually assaulted by him. Alamin, however, claimed he had solicited Altman’s services as a prostitute the previous night, according to a police report.

Altman was charged with misdemeanor counts of soliciting in prostitution, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drug-abuse instruments. Alamin was charged with misdemeanor counts of soliciting prostitution and possession of drug paraphernalia, and also was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear in Youngstown Municipal Court on a driving under suspension charge.

The drug-related charges stem from police reportedly finding a metal spoon with suspected drug residue, a glass crack pipe and a bag containing suspected heroin residue on Altman at Walmart, then during the booking process finding a syringe, spoons and crack pipe stashed in her bra.

They also found drug paraphernalia in the hotel room where they interviewed Alamin, according to a police report.

A prosecutor determined that unlawful restraint and gross sexual imposition charges would not be pursued, according to the report.
