BASEBALL

Hubbard 15, Akron East 0

AKRON

Jamie Thomson and Tim Herberger each had three RBIs while Sam Mauk and Kent Kroynovich added two RBIs apiece for Hubbard (10-5). East (5-7) was shut down by Hubbard’s Lukas Marsora who struck out four and walked two. Anthony Laird also had two hits for the Eagles.

Canfield 7, Streetsboro 0

CANFIELD

In six innings on the mound, winning pitcher Luke Kelty struck out nine and allowed two hits. Anthony Vross’ two hits included a triple and drove in two runs. Matt Pappas and Jack Rafoth each had two hits and drove in one run. Pete Hernandez had a double and two RBIs.

Canfield 7, East Liverpool 5

CANFIELD

Kelty’s three hits included a double drove in three runs. Mark Wittmann had two hits and Rafoth had two RBIs. Alex Thompson picked up the mound win in relief.

Howland 9, North Allegheny 5

WEXFORD, PA.

Dylan Beasom’s three hits drove in two runs for the Tigers. Frank Rappach had two hits.

Maplewood 4-4, Liberty 3-6

MAPLEWOOD

In the first game, Mike Everly was the losing Liberty pitcher despite going the distance and striking out 10. In the second game, Shane McLevey went the distance on the mound for the Leopards to earn the win.

Bristol 4, Mineral Ridge 3

WEATHERSFIELD

Bristol came from behind and scored two runs in the seventh inning to down Mineral Ridge. The Rams were led by Jared Gherardi’s 3 for 3 day, while Mac White also had an RBI single.

Columbiana 6-6, Lake Center Christian 5-5

AKRON

The Clippers swept LCC with identical scores, the second game taking eight innings to complete. Columbiana (10-5) had a five-run seventh inning to steal game one. Keenan Green lined a two-run triple in the inning to help complete the comeback. The Tigers came back in the seventh inning of game two, driving in three runs to push the game to extras. Green started off the Columbiana eighth with a single and was eventually driven in by Vince Vivo on a game-winning single. Columbiana will play Leetonia today and Tuesday. Wins in both games would clinch a share of the Inter-Tri County League White title.

SOFTBALL

Brecksville-B. Heights 3, Champion 2

AKRON

Megan Turner tripled and doubled for the Golden Flashes. Carli Swipas and Jackie Mulvain also had two hits.

Champion 6, Brunswick 1

AKRON

Winning pitcher McKenzie Zigmont (9-1) struck out eight and walked one. Turner hit two doubles. One of Swipas’ two hits was a double. Alex Steigerwald had two hits and Gabby Hollenbaugh doubled. Molly Williams drove in two runs.

Akron Hoban 8, Champion 1

AKRON

Williams had two of Champion’s (11-4) five hits.

Akron Hoban 3, Hubbard 2

AKRON

Laney Jones drove in two runs for Hoban. Addy Jarvis had three hits as the Eagles fell in nine innings at Firestone Stadium. On the mound, she scattered 10 hits and allowed two earned runs. Emma Wukelich and Annie Zagorec each had two hits for the Eagles.

Mathews 8, Norton 3

AKRON

Meredith Grimes’ three hits drove in two runs and she scored twice for the Mustangs at Firestone Stadium. Bailey Hall had two hits and scored twice.

Mathews 17, Geneva 6

AKRON

Winning pitcher Nicole Watts struck out six and walked one for the Mustangs (11-3). Her two hits included a triple. Grimes’ two triples drove in five runs and she scored twice. Mariah Hoff had three hits and scored three times.Hall had two hits and scored three runs.

Louisville 4, Canfield 1

LOUISVILLE

The Leopards scored three runs in the fifth inning to take control and beat Canfield (14-3). The Cardinals notched seven hits and scored their run in the third inning.

Maplewood 10-15, Liberty 9-3

LIBERTY

Maplewood took the walk-off victory in game one after Amy Mikulich’s sacrifice fly scored Joy Griffin in the bottom of the eighth inning. Mikulich, who hit a solo home run, and Allie Longo each had three hits and Raven Watson hit a double for Maplewood. Longo was the winning pitcher with five strikeouts. No stats were reported for Liberty. In the second contest, Sydney Johnson hit a three-run home run in the first inning to start the rout. Mikulich hit three doubles for four RBIs.

Lakeview 3, Willoughby South 1

CORTLAND

Cait Kelm struck out nine while walking two and allowing six hits to get the win for Lakeview (7-3, 4-1). At the plate, Kelm had two hits, including a triple. Beady Titus also had two hits for Lakeview.

Lakeview 1, Mentor 0

CORTLAND

Kelm picked up two wins in one day as she limited Mentor to three hits and no walks while striking out nine. Avrey Steiner hit a double for Lakewood.

Brookfield 8, Lisbon 5

BROOKFIELD

Lauren Pesa went 3 for 3 with a home run and a double to pace Brookfield. Bailey Drapola’s two hits included a homer for the Warriors. Ella Simcox also notched two hits and two RBIs. Kennedy Vrabel had two hits for Lisbon.

Jackson-Milton 19-9, Warren JFK 2-8

WARREN

The Bluejays (5-10) swept a doubleheader on the road, crushing JFK (7-3) in game one. Sierra Pierce pitched all five innings, striking out nine and allowing only one earned run in the shortened game. Taylor Sahli had five RBIs and Madde Hyland had two doubles as Jackson-Milton pounded out 11 hits. In game two, Amy Ritchie and Pierce each had triples. Katie Ragie also had a triple, driving in two runners in the process.

Springfield 11, Woodridge 5

AKRON

Lindsey Druschel’s three hits included a triple and double for the Tigers at the Rock N Fire Tournament. She drove in four runs. Michaela Cavalcanti’s two hits included a double and produced two RBIs. Josie Applegarth’s two hits drove in two runs. Cassie Bacon also had two hits. Makenzy Capoullez and Ellie Centofanti each scored three runs.

Orrville 7, Springfield 5

AKRON

Druschel homered while Cavalcanti and Capoullez each had two hits for the Tigers (8-5). Applegarth and Bacon doubled while Mariah Johnson scored twice.
