Ohio Supreme Court Justice Judith French visited Boardman High School on March 23.

Students in government and history classes from Austintown, Boardman, Beaver Local, Campbell, East Palestine, Jackson-Milton, Struthers, Sebring, Western Reserve and Windham attended French’s presentation at the Boardman Performing Arts Center.

French, a native of Sebring, frequently visits schools all around Ohio to speak to students about the judicial system, personal experiences and her life. Before French spoke to all of the schools, she stopped at the Boardman High School government class for a more personal visit.

The first part of French’s presentation was a discussion of her job and the experiences she had going through school and making her way to the position she has now. After French spoke, she offered a question and answer session for the students. The students asked questions about her job, advice on how they should go about pursuing what they want to do in life and several other topics.

The students listened thoroughly to what French had to say. When it came time for them to ask questions, they weren’t afraid to ask anything because she was open and welcoming during her speech.

“I would encourage you, as you think about what you might like to do with your life, to not be afraid of doing what you think is right,” French told the students.

French’s short, but informative, presentation was to help encourage students to go after what they want to do. She helped show them any obstacles they may run into can be overcome.
