Austintown Fitch High School’s National Honor Society hosted its 78th annual National Honor Society Induction Ceremony on March 18 at the school.
The National Honor Society Induction Ceremony honored the 80 current senior students in National Honor Society. Six new seniors were inducted into NHS, along with 78 new junior members. The ceremony also honored the 50-year members of the Fitch chapter, as well as teachers who had a positive impact on the students of Fitch.
Parents, family members and friends were all welcome to witness the induction of the new members into National Honor Society.
Fitch’s choir put on a performance before the new inductees were introduced. Each inductee walked through the center of the auditorium and onto the stage as a short description was read aloud about them.
The audience was told where the inductee wants to attend college, what major they want to pursue and any extracurricular activities the students may be involved in inside and out of school.
After all of the new inductees were introduced and seated on stage, the current members of National Honor Society made their way to the stage to light the candles.
Each candle that had to be lit represented the four core values of National Honor Society. The green candle represented character, the gold candle represented scholarship, the blue candle represented leadership and the red candle represented service.
When the candles were lit and the ceremony came to a conclusion, the students attended a reception in the school’s media center.
