SOFTBALL

Windham 1, Mathews 0

AKRON

Brittany Knight struck out 14, pitched a two-hitter and scored the game’s only run in the bottom of the first inning as the Bombers (8-1) handed the Mustangs (9-1) their first loss at Firestone Stadium. Knight led off the inning with a walk, went to second on a passed ball and scored on a single by Sabrina Garl. Windham managed just five hits, but Knight allowed just three baserunners — two hits and a hit batsman. The Mustangs twice got a runner to second with less two outs, but couldn’t deliver a run-scoring hit. Bailey Hall took the loss for Mathews. She struck out four and walked three.

Lakeside 5, Struthers 2

SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP

A four-run fourth inning helped the Dragons pull away from Struthers. Erika Van’tVeer laced an RBI double and was followed up by a double from Alissa Patterson. Trinity Farrar went 2 for 4 for Struthers, scoring one run and driving in another.

McDonald 6, Mineral Ridge 1

MINERAL RIDGE

Cheyenne Titus allowed only one hit and struck out eight Rams en route to a win, while Hannah Donkers had two singles, an RBI and two runs scored for McDonald. Kim Schilling was hit with the loss despite racking up seven strikeouts.

Western Reserve 13, Leetonia 2, 5 innings

BERLIN CENTER

Alexis Miller and Maddie Orock each had two singles to lead Western Reserve (6-4, 4-2 ITCL Blue). Sydney Miller had a triple and three RBIs as well. Maddie Krietzburg got the win, striking out three and walking none. Kristy Eckman had a double for the Bears.

Canfield 7, Lakeview 6

CANFIELD

The Cardinals pushed across two runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with the win. Jill Baker, Maura Kennedy and Kalin Kovach each had doubles for Canfield. Kayla Troxil had seven strikeouts, earning the win. Sam Marino had a home run for Lakeview.

Poland 10, Warren Harding 0

POLAND

Ashley Wire, Kristyn Svetlak, Sarah Boccieri and Carlie Lattanzio all had two hits for Poland (6-5) as it routed Warren Harding. Amanda Wire also notched three RBIs, while Harley Kish added two. Megan Marsico earned the win on the mound for tossing three scoreless and hitless innings.

Jefferson 11, Austintown Fitch 0, 6 innings

AUSTINTOWN

Jefferson (9-0) racked up 11 runs on 11 hits while Alyssa Irons shut out the Falcons. Irons also had a single, a triple and three RBIs. Maggie Moore had a triple and two RBIs. Lainie Simmons and Kayle Kelty had two hits each for Fitch (4-7).

BASEBALL

Jackson-Milton 4, Lowellville 3, 9 innings

NORTH JACKSON

The Bluejays (8-2, 6-0 ITCL Blue) scored a walk-off win thanks in part to dominant pitching from Justin Rentz and Noah Laster. Rentz went six innings, striking out 12, while Noah Laster pitched the final three innings scoreless, striking out five. Eric Ostrowski had two doubles for Jackson-Milton while Jake Maszcek had a double for the Rockets.

Hubbard 15, Lakeview 7

HUBBARD

Ryan Love had two hits and four RBIs while Tim Herberger had three hits, one of which a home run in Hubbard’s (7-5, 1-4 AAC White) win. Brett Lopuchovsky and Anthony Laird also had two RBIs each for the Eagles while Andy Black had a two RBI double for Lakeview (3-6, 2-4 AAC White).

Beaver Local 8, Lisbon 1

LISBON

Bryce McKenzie had dueces wild going 2 for 2 with two runs scored, two walks and two RBIs in Beaver’s win. Bradley Gibson pitched seven innings, scattering seven hits and allowing the one earned run. Logan Bell went 3 for 3 for the Blue Devils (8-4, 3-1 ITCL White).

Boardman 1, Howland 0

BOARDMAN

The Spartans (7-7, 4-0 AAC Red) scratched across one run in the fourth but it was enough for the victory. Hudson Widrig improved to 4-0, striking out six Tigers and issuing no walks. Dylan Beasom had two hits, including a double, for Howland (6-5, 1-4 AAC Red).

LaBrae 11, Campbell 0, 5 innings

CAMPBELL

Blake Sprague allowed two hits over five innings, striking out six and walking one hitter. LaBrae jumped out to a 8-0 after three innings and ran away with it from there.

Western Reserve 12, Leetonia 2, 5 innings

BERLIN CENTER

Karl Klockenga went 2 for 3 with a run scored to lead a Western Reserve offense that saw nine batters with base hits. Jeep DiCioccio, Justin Ciccone, Chandler Little and Dylan Smith all had two RBIs for the Blue Devils (10-1, 5-1 ITCL Blue).

Poland 12, Warren Harding 2

POLAND

Anthony Calcagni went 3 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs for the Bulldogs (11-2) who pulled off a triple play to end the game. Vince Garayua picked up the win, giving up four hits in four innings. Doug Painter had two hits for the Raiders.

Columbiana 10, Mineral Ridge 6

COLUMBIANA

Nate Armstrong, Jake Clark, Mitch Davidson and Tim Davin combined for eight hits and six RBIs in the Clippers’ win. Barndon Johnston got the win for Columbiana, allowing four runs over four innings. Jared Gherardi reached base three times for the Rams, including a double.

Cardinal Mooney 5, North Canton Hoover 3

CANTON

A four-run third inning boosted Mooney to a road win. Jack Lynch and Mike Williams each went 2 for 3 with a run scored for the Cardinals. Lynch pitched all seven innings, allowing no extra base hits and two earned runs while striking out six.

Canfield 16, Louisville 6, 6 innings

CANFIELD

The Cardinals banged out 16 hits in the run-ruled contest. Angelo Petracci had three hits and an RBI while Joe Delocia had three hits as well including a double and three RBIs. Anthony Vross had three RBIs as well.

Niles 4, Edgewood 0

ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP

Garrett Pitts and Tyler Srbinovich each had two hits and a run scored apiece in a Niles road victory. Corbin Foy went six innings for Niles, striking out five, allowing four hits before Brandon Weida pitched a scoreless seventh for the save. Matt DiDonato had two of Edgewood’s four hits.

Ursuline 14, South Range 4

YOUNGSTOWN

Freshman Bobby Cavalier went 4 for 4 with six RBIs and a run scored in the Fighting Irish’s romp over the Raiders. Alex Schlosser went 4 for 5 with a run scored while Josh Scheetz went 3 for 3 with five RBIs and two runs scored.
