Health services organization may buy Bottom Dollar site

YOUNGSTOWN

An organization that provides medical, dental and behavioral health services, with a focus on lower-income people, is in negotiations with the city to purchase the former Bottom Dollar supermarket on Glenwood Avenue.

While the talks are preliminary, officials with ONE Health Ohio and the city said today they are progressing and expect a deal to be made.

ONE Health Ohio, which operates six health care facilities in the area, has considered a location on Youngstown’s South Side for years, said Dr. Ronald Dwinnells, its chief executive officer.

The center would open 9 to 12 months after a deal is finalized, he said.

The city wanted to replace Bottom Dollar, which closed in January 2015, with another grocery store, but has been unable to do so.

ONE Health Ohio would have a food distribution component to its facility, Dwinnells said.
