BOARDMAN

Varsity Partners, a group of former collegiate athletes dedicated to giving back to their community and fans, will have "Team Talk: A Fan Forum with former Buckeye Athletes," presented by Drund, a local technology company, from 5 to 6 p.m. May 7 in the gymnasium at Boardman High School, 7777 Glenwood Ave.

The event will raise money for Christine Terlesky, a former BHS teacher and girls basketball coach, who was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, better known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease, in September 2013.

Former Ohio State University athletes will take the stage discussing their personal experiences as well as other topics such as the 2016 NFL draft and upcoming OSU sports seasons. There will be a question-and-answer forum.

Boardman native Terence Dials, the newest inductee into the OSU Athletic Hall of Fame, will moderate, and on the panel of athletes slated to participate are Troy Smith, Kirk Barton, Anthony Schlegel, Bobby Carpenter, Matt Wilhelm, Chris Wells, Dustin Fox and Scoonie Penn. Panel participants are subject to change.

Doors open at 4 p.m., and fans can meet, talk, take photos and get autographs from the moderator and panel participants. Raffle tickets will be sold to win autographed Buckeye memorabilia. All net proceeds from event will support Terlesky.

Tickets are $30, and children under 5 can enter for free. Seating is limited; there is a limit of 10 purchased tickets and five children’s tickets per order. To purchase tickets, visit VarsityPartners.org/tickets.
