Liberty melee involves hit and run with domestic beating

A melee at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Denny’s Restaurant parking lot at 4020 Belmont Ave., Liberty, included a hit-and-run in which a man in a Chevrolet Suburban struck three cars while chasing his wife after he saw her with another man. Liberty Police Capt. Toby Meloro, who said the husband chased his wife into the nearby Ianazone’s Homemade Pizza restaurant, crashed his car into the building, then chased her through the restaurant into the parking lot where he beat her. The man was arrested and is expected to be charged with felonious assault. His wife was in surgery Tuesday night with a broken jaw.
