Attempted theft of flowers, jewelry lands Struthers man in jail

BOARDMAN — A Struthers man is charged with robbery and assault for an incident reported at Walmart Monday.

Charged is James Bailey, 32, of 10th Street.

An employee at the Doral Drive store reported to township police that Bailey attempted to steal flowers and jewelry, then struck two employees while trying to flee.

He reportedly struck a female employee, causing her to fall backwards, then knocked a male employee to the ground.

Video surveillance corroborated the employees' report, according to a police report.

Bailey was taken to the Mahoning County jail.
