Low-cost rabies clinic set Saturday

LISBON

A rabies-prevention clinic, sponsored by the Columbiana County Health Department and the Lisbon Veterinary Clinic, will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Columbiana County Career & Technical Center, 9364 state Route 45 South, said Wesley Vins, Columbiana County health commissioner.

Vins said vaccinations are $5 per dose for pets that are 3 months and older. Dogs must be on a leash, and cats must be confined or in a carrier. Rabies vaccination certificates will be issued for all pets vaccinated.

Help sought to place flags at grave sites

The Broadhead and Jones Memorial Team, in conjunction with AMVETS, is seeking volunteers to help place flags on veterans’ grave sites at Oak Hill Cemetery on the city’s South Side.

The flags will be placed before Memorial Day.

Summit on crime, safety set in Ward 6

YOUNGSTOWN

The 6th Ward Citizens Coalition will host a Crime and Safety Summit to tackle crime problems in the ward from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 30 at St. Andrewes A.M.E. Church, 521 W. Earle Ave.

The coalition will welcome representatives from the FBI, the U.S. Department of Justice, Youngstown Police Department, Mahoning County Sheriff’s Department, members of Youngstown City Council, Community Initiative to Reduce Violence, the Youngstown Law Director’s office, various local ministers, block-watch leaders and community organizers to discuss the crime issues in the city and possible solutions.
