Dayton chief: woman fatally shot by police presented threat

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — The Dayton police chief says a woman fatally shot by three officers over the weekend presented a threat to the public.

Chief Richard Biehl says shooting victim Kisha Arrone was shot early Sunday after getting out of her vehicle with a gun and firing into the air with bystanders in the area.

Biehl said today that officers fired 20 shots, with 10 striking the 35-year-old Arrone, of Dayton.

Dayton police say officers were responding to a call about shots being fired. Witnesses told police Arrone shot into the air after putting the gun to her partner’s head.

The three officers have been placed on administrative leave.

The Dayton chapter of the NAACP says it will investigate to be sure the shooting was within guidelines.
