Armed robbery

YOUNGSTOWN

Reports said a gunman got away with cash about 4:40 p.m. Thursday from a Dollar General store, 2981 McGuffey Road, on the city’s East Side.

Reports said a man came up to the counter and placed an item on the counter as though he was going to buy it, but instead demanded money, then pulled a gun.

The clerk grabbed some bills out of the cash register but dropped them. The gunman reached over the counter to grab them, then ran outside to a car that drove away.

Drug charges

AUSTINTOWN

Officers found drug-abuse instruments on a Youngstown woman after a traffic stop Friday on Mahoning Avenue.

Officer Todd Schuller said while performing the traffic stop for a marked-lanes violation, he learned the passenger in the vehicle had a warrant for her arrest on a charge of receiving stolen property from Columbiana County.

When Schuller arrested Aleah Good, 24, of Idlewood Road, Good offered to the officer a hypodermic needle and a charred spoon, both items consistent with processing heroin, which were in her pockets at the time of the traffic stop, according to a police report.

Good is charged with possessing drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. She has a hearing Monday in Mahoning County Area Court.
