POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

April 9

Harassment: A Hillview Drive woman alleged a 44-year-old cousin had sent and made a series of derogatory and degrading text messages and calls to her.

Criminal mischief: Andrew T. Silsbe, 31, of North Main Street, Hubbard, faced a criminal-mischief charge after the owner of a nearby business reported someone had spit on the business’s front door.

April 10

Burglary: To a residence in the 300 block of Drummond Avenue through a rear window. Stolen were three jugs of coins valued at $200.

April 13

Assault: A West Liberty Street man alleged a neighbor struck his left hand and arm after he had told the neighbor to leave his apartment.

Recovered property: A woman near East Park Avenue and North Main Street handed to police a $799 check she found that had been written to a business.

LIBERTY

April 8

Aggravated menacing: A worker with a Logan Way store alleged a Youngstown woman, 28, threatened to kill her after having threatened several customers.

Arrest: Hubbard Township police handed custody of 30-year-old Raymond E. Briskey to township authorities. Briskey, of Mariner Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.

April 9

Theft: An Ohio temporary registration license plate was removed from a vehicle in the 3400 block of Belmont Avenue.

Theft by deception: A Roosevelt Drive woman told officers a caller claiming to represent a satellite-TV company and supposedly wanting to upgrade her service asked the accuser for her credit-card number regarding a $150 fee for the upgrades. The woman became suspicious, however, and refused to provide such information, a report showed.

April 10

Arrest: A traffic stop near state Route 711 led to the arrest of 42-year-old Saule J. Groover of Mohawk Drive, Girard, who was charged with operating a vehicle impaired.

Domestic violence: Officers arrested 19-year-old Amarae M. Kornegay of Madison Avenue, Youngstown, on a felony domestic-violence warrant after her mother alleged Kornegay had pushed her during an argument about a pair of flip-flops. The charge was upgraded because of prior convictions, a report stated.

Harassment: A Youngstown man alleged his former employer at a Trumbull Avenue business left him two threatening voicemail messages.

Arrest: While answering a shoplifting call at Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, police took 56-year-old Raymond L. Edwards III into custody upon discovering Edwards, of Breaden Street, Youngstown, was wanted on a Niles warrant charging failure to appear in court.

April 11

Stolen property: After having attempted to pull over a car near Naylor-Lloyd Road, authorities charged Ryan T. Higgins, 33, of Raglan Avenue Northeast, Warren, with receiving stolen property, obstructing official business and resisting arrest after alleging he led police on a foot chase at the same time they learned the vehicle had been stolen in Niles. Higgins also refused to obey officers’ commands when apprehended, a report said.

Arrest: While responding to a report of a possible child-neglect situation in the 800 block of Pinecrest Drive, authorities took into custody 20-year-old Ryan J. Fisher of East Boston Avenue, Youngstown, on a criminal-trespassing warrant. The child, however, was in good condition, police said.

April 12

Identity theft: A traffic stop near Roosevelt Drive resulted in the arrest of Paul N. Dobbins of Selma Avenue, Youngstown, on a felony identity-theft charge. The 36-year-old Dobbins provided a false name and two dates of birth, a report showed.

April 13

Incident: A Lamplighter Avenue woman told police she had opened an envelope in her mailbox and saw on a piece of paper a threatening word that had been typed in Russian.

Arrest: The Ohio State Highway Patrol handed to Liberty police 40-year-old Tavares J. Jones of Victor Avenue, Youngstown. He was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Assault/burglary: A woman alleged a man she has been dating forced his way into her James Lane residence via the front door, causing the door to strike her head and leave a cut above her left eye.

GIRARD

April 10

Arrests: Police responded to a possible fight in the 30 block of East Howard Street before filing disorderly-conduct charges against Stefon A. Walker, 20, of Furnace Lane, Mineral Ridge; Joseph M. Howley, 19, of North Osborn Avenue, Youngstown; and Anthony Virostek, 19, of North Palmyra Road, North Jackson. Authorities had to respond six times to the ongoing argument at the residence, where some of the people reportedly were intoxicated, though no one had been assaulted or injured, a report stated.

Criminal mischief: A car in the 200 block of Illinois Avenue was found with a broken passenger-side mirror.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: An Elruth Court woman said her boyfriend took her 2005 Toyota without permission after a heated argument between them.

April 11

Arrest: Police arrested Stefanie Romeo near her North Highland Avenue residence. The Girard woman, no age listed, was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.

Possible criminal mischief: An Earl Street woman said she received a suspicious letter, which led her to believe her mail might have been tampered with.

Harassment: A North Avenue woman alleged her son has sent her a series of unwanted text messages.

Criminal mischief: A man reported an object was tossed at and struck his front windshield, leaving a chip, as he drove in the 700 block of Church Hill Road. Damage was estimated at $150.

April 12

Trespassing: Authorities answered a call regarding two four-wheel vehicles in a lake off Tibbetts-Wick Road, then charged Brandon J. Packard, 21, of Estate Circle, Youngstown, and 18-year-old Michael R. Hood of North Turner Road, Austintown, with criminal trespassing. Hood and Packard were on private property, a report said.

April 13

Assault: A woman told police a man twice punched her face during an argument after she had baby-sat his child at a Hazel Drive home.

Arrest: While responding to a possible drunken driver off Interstate 80, police on nearby U.S. Route 422 pulled over and charged Jane B. Law, no information given, with operating a vehicle impaired. Law’s blood-alcohol count was 0.139, which exceeds Ohio’s 0.08 legal intoxication limit, a report showed.

April 14

Harassment: A Church Hill Road woman said her boyfriend’s mother has sent her unsolicited text messages.
