A Mahoning County grand jury indicted a man for his purported role in a city homicide who was out of prison for slightly more than 48 hours.

The grand jury Thursday indicted Jermaine Bunn, 39, on charges of murder, being a felon in possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon in the April 3 shooting death of Michael Pete, 30.

Pete was shot and killed at a party about 12:45 a.m. outside a home in the first block of East Evergreen Avenue on the South Side. Police said he was killed in an exchange of gunfire with Bunn, who was wounded in the face.

Bunn was taken by private car to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, where he was treated for his wound then released to the county jail on the weapons charges.
