Berlin boat patrol gets ODNR grant

BERLIN TOWNSHIP

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has again awarded a grant to the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office for its summer Berlin Reservoir boat patrol. This year’s grant totals $28,036. The sheriff’s office has been performing its annual marine patrol at the reservoir for three decades, said Maj. William Cappabianca of the sheriff’s office.

Route 46 reopens

State Route 46 between New and Kirk roads has reopened after having been closed since Monday for a culvert replacement, the Ohio Department of Transportation announced late Thursday.

Boardman residents can register for garden

BOARDMAN

Registration is open to join Boardman Park’s Community Garden, located at the Historic Southern Park Stables on Washington Boulevard.

For a $25 fee, residents can obtain a garden plot, water and periodic gardening classes. Due to a limited number of plots, registration is limited to township residents and to one plot her person/family.

Garden season runs May 1 to Nov. 15.

Walk MS event

Walk MS: Mahoning Valley, an annual event to raise money for multiple-sclerosis research and services for people affected by the disease, will take place beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday at Scrappers Stadium, 111 Eastwood Mall Blvd.

The event is part of an initiative run by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

Park roads closed for Run Y-Town

These roads in Mill Creek Park will be closed to vehicular traffic, cyclists and pedestrians from approximately 7 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday for the Run Y-Town 10-Miler: Old Mill, West Newport, East Newport and Chestnut Hill drives, and Kreider’s Entrance.

Poland forest cleanup

The annual stream cleanup and garlic mustard pull at Poland Municipal Forest will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Volunteers are welcome. The group will meet at the College Street entrance to the forest.
