Youngstown Board of Control approves pact for new municipal court at city hall annex

YOUNGSTOWN — The board of control approved a $3.34 million contract today with the general contractor for the city hall annex project to convert that structure into the new municipal court.

Murphy Contacting Co. of Youngstown submitted the low bid April 5.

The board also approved contacts today with Fire Foe Corp. of Girard for fire-protection work at a cost of $164,953, and with W.T. Leone’s Tri-Area Electric Co. Inc. of Youngstown for electric work at a cost of $999,919.

The city received proposals for plumbing, and for heating, ventilation and air conditioning that were higher than the city’s estimate. The city is reworking those two proposals and expects to advertise for proposals starting no later than April 26, said Charles Shasho, deputy director of public works.

The court project, estimated to cost between $7.4 million and $7.7 million, should be done Sept. 1, 2017, Shasho said.
